Conservatives are Cowards
Each and every day it becomes more and more apparent that conservatives are no longer what they once were but now a shell of their former selves. Who knows how they got so lost; stumbling hard over their own political philosophy and ideology with their ever increasing harsh contradictions and impossible logical connections. Conservatives have been playing an epic game of tug-a-war with who they label as “liberals” but have no intention of ever winning the game. Instead, the conservatives want to keep the flag right where it is at, isometric if you will, and every time the liberals give a good tug and move the flag further from the conservatives, the conservatives simply respond by thinking “that’s ok, as long as they don’t get it any further, everything is still fine.” Well, the time has long past when the flag is well past the range of ok, yet conservatives still fight with all there might to keep the flag static.
I think that part of the problem is that they are conservatives and what they have decided to conserve has been allowed to be changed right in front of their faces with what appears to be their eyes wide shut. Conservatives are no longer those who are the protectors and guardians of the republic ruled by its supreme law the constitution; but now are those who are trying as hard as they know how to slow the progress of those termed progressives. The problem with this absurd strategy and defeatism tactic is that it gets to a point where things have become so tyrannical, so all encompassing, that fighting to preserve or “conserve” the status quo leads those who used to be patriots of the people to be fighting to keep the tyranny they now have with the sole aim of not adding more tyranny. This is still tyranny.
This is weakness embodied. This is pure cowardness and if not cowardness it is dangerous ignorance. The kind of ignorance that only comes by being utterly afraid. If it is cowardness, it must be that of fear and palsy of possibly peaking into the abyss; that maybe if we do not admit that we are standing on the cusp of the abyss, then the abyss is not really there and those who do say we are on the abyss must be the enemy because they are the ones spreading the fear. Truth is not a welcome friend when fear of heights, darkness and falling are all possessed standing there struggling with all might to not look down and view that which encompasses their fear. This cowardness is not for me. I want to and strive to be the person who faces my fear, glares down into the abyss and does all in my power to get away from the precipice, to regain my footing and stand taller and more secure knowing I faced the truth and my fear and took action to correct the problem.
Admitting that your ship is about to go into the maelstrom is not hating your ship. This is just like admitting your country, in your name, is doing things that are absolutely an abomination to you is not hating your country, it is actually the opposite, it is love of your country and its citizens.
I am a Republican and as a Republican I subscribe whole heartedly to the principles of Republicanism. I define this philosophy in line with the official definition as a belief that there are unalienable rights endowed by the creator upon man that are to be held sacred and ferociously defended. That no man, party or government is above these rights, and that a Republic is a form of government, ruled by law, in which sole purpose is to embody and protect these same rights. Secondary to that, it is a form of general order to allow for common rules in common space applied to all mankind.
These rights are simple. All of us get to worship and exercise religion to the dictates of our heart and soul. We get to speak what is in our heart both in private and in public without fear of public or official repercussions and censorship. We have rights to ownership over ourselves and our estate, and equity in our wealth and up to complete privacy and control over those same things we own. Our children belong to us, we are their God given guardians, mentors, nurturers, and providers. We do not have the right to exercise any form of violence against others unless those same individuals are exercising violence against ourselves. In other words, we have the right to the defense of ourselves, our family, our religion, our speech, our wealth and estate and all else we own. We also are guaranteed ownership of the tools of defense and to the organization and unity with others in the name of and purpose of defense.
In a Republic . . .
In a Republic, no form of official actions should be taken against us without due process in a court governed by law, decided by our peers, with full sympathy from all involved. That it is better to let many guilty to go free rather than one innocent go punished, as it is better. That an appropriate level of government must be established over the appropriate domain with local affairs remaining local, state remaining state, etc. otherwise reform and great injustice quickly can come into reality. That all in the Republic are and are to be treated as independent, sovereign citizens, kings over their private domain, dwelling in their personal castle and that any invasion of home or residence must be done with absolute due process and conviction. That our neighbor is our friend and ally, not our spy and detractor. That all our equal under the law subject to the same penalties and limitations and all our there to support and lift each other.
In a Republic, war and the shedding of blood should be avoided at all cost at all times and when it is necessary, should be done by a citizenry and not a professional army of professional soldiers; but instead in defense of country, family, religion and self. That invasion and occupation should be avoided at all cost as no true Republic is an empire nor seeks dominion over other sovereign nations.
In a Republic, secrecy should be shunned at all cost in order to facilitate and allow for functional governance of the people, by the people, and for the people. That torture, assassinations, indiscriminate and conquestial war, indefinite detention, prolonged or kangaroo courts, mercenaries, and constant intrigue should be absolutely and undeviatingly adhored at all times as these are the greatest cancers and killers of freedom and liberty. That all of mankind should be treated with these same protections and the violations of which should be tried as treason.
In a Republic, the law is for the common welfare, for governance of the common sphere. This means that special interest and specialized benefits and costs are against the form of government. The common sphere including things like contract enforcement, incarceration of serially violent individuals, infrastructure, pollutants, and other domains such as the general and common defense.
A person who believes in Republicanism, or in other words a Republican, understands these truths, these rights, and upholds, sustains and supports them . . . unabashedly. A Republican understands that government is force, and nothing but force and as George Washington said, “force, like fire, is a dangerous servant and fearful master.” This means that a true Republican would not use government, or in other words force, to promote or control education, to administer charity, to provide retirement, to control health care, to regulate food and drug, etc. No, a Republican would do all in their power to keep the use of force away from these many different domains and instead rely on the competitive power of informed consent and unobstructed market entry.
Liberty and Freedom
Because liberty and freedom are the natural result of the embodiment of these natural rights, a Republican supports just that, liberty and freedom to the utmost.
This is where conservatives, in all their boasting of patriotism, have allowed their crippling fear to permeate our culture and society, it’s in their distrust and fear of those same results, liberty and freedom. Saying this is not a light subject as many a conservative will pay lip service to these outcomes, yet their hearts and the fruits of their actions and support are far from them.
The New or Neo Conservative
No where is the conservative more of a coward than with dragnet surveillance. They are always the first to condemn Edward Snowden, the first to defend NSA, and the first to proudly declare that they have nothing to hide. Yet, want to make a conservative cower like a scared child caught in the cookie jar, begin to loudly tell them about the dark indiscretions of their government and they will shush you, and ask that you don’t say those things with a phone nearby. Conservatives will secretly admire courage, but will openly stand by and watch as passive spectators, for fear of being zeroed in on by NSA. No, a conservative will not be labeled a domestic terrorist, for they don’t have anything to hide.
Conservatives worship the soldier. Especially the professional career soldier. This is a bastardization of traditional republican gratitude to the citizen soldier fighting an imminent and real threat to the Republic and by so doing putting their life on the line to preserve the great outcomes of freedom and liberty. In the days of the high Roman Republic, the very wealthy and poor, the child and senator marched out side by side to confront Hannibal; these were those who deserved veneration and near worshipful gratitude. A career soldier is not a hero, but an employee of the state and a uniform of force. Yes, respect should be granted appropriately, but the worshiping fervor of the conservative is far beyond the role of a Republican to the point of great contra-indication. So great is this worship, that conservatives have cheered the permanent militarization and sustaining of a large and extremely expensive standing armies spread over thousand of bases with leaders always seeking a new crisis or undeclared indefinite war to fuel its need for new bombs and greater funding.
Even greater a threat than the conservatives basic worship of the soldier and the standing army is their enthusiasm bringing home and coddling a massive para-military force within the nations quickly eroding peace officer core. Conservatives are sick of the traditional blue uniform of the peace officer founded in the representation of England’s militia. No. they love the midnight black and covered face of the nationally funded tactical trooper. They encourage federal funds and federal training, loving the use of SEALs and DELTA to train these specialized weapons and tactics teams. Even more, they love the pre-dawn raid of a neighbor’s home, the killing of the family dog, the possible shooting of the homeowner, the indiscriminate and general search for some unlawfully illegal item, product, or compound and cheer even more when these neighbors are incarcerated and maltreated for their crime of residing in their castle and governing their own life.
Yet, this worship of uniformed force does not extend to the due process of children, no, not quite. They think that Republican safe guards and trained and experienced peace officials are obsolete when it comes to the children, and that no child is safe. That lightly trained and mis-incentivized bureaucrats should have full access to every home, for any reason and can kidnap and control all children as wards of the state. Yes, conservatives worship CPS as a near demi-god, the first to admit there are abuses in the system and the first to apologize and defend, for they care about the children. CPS is the embodiment of anti-republicanism. The agency in concept is the quintessential tyrant operating on fear and pain, on raw power and illogical judgment other than due process and rule of law. If only conservatives could limit their misguided worship to the police and demand that children remain with their families until a conviction of guilt is decided by a jury of peers in a court of law with direct mandates deciding the fate of the children.
Conservatives think that forcing a man or woman to save for their retirement is a necessary evil. Yes they state their hatred of social security, but could not imagine a world without it, for who would take care of grandma? Certainly not me!
Conservatives pretended to fight ObamaCare and socialized mandated health care yet recoil at the thought of deregulating medical school. Of allowing medical doctors to become doctors without the impossible and detrimental barriers to entry which would certainly drive down costs, overnight if you will. No, a deregulated medical school will produce unscrupulous doctors they say, only government restrictions can allow good and smart men and woman to practice medicine! So what if we live in the information age and many illnesses can be self diagnosed for less than a penny on the dollar of using a physician, we must have limited schools and limited doctors who pay fortunes and run gauntlets to be doctors be our doctors so we can be safe and never could we allow an independent and well informed consenting adult to treat their own malady. And if it is too expensive a system, well then, we will secretly team up with the “liberals” and force everyone to pay for insurance to pay for the expensive over trained physicians. This is not to say that a Republican does not want a Surgeon who does not have 20 years plus experience, but believes that a consenting choice of that physician will drive the market well enough. Vote for Romney the conservative chant, his fascist mandated health care was only limited to one state, never the nation. Soon I wonder, will the conservatives go after LASIK eye surgery in the name of protecting us. Free us I declare, allow for a spectrum of M.D.’s, allow for quacks, allow for scholars, but most of all, allow for much competition.
Even more than deregulating medical school, conservatives cannot nor will not ever fathom the abolishment of the FDA and freeing all prescription drugs and the potential drugs denied market access by not getting FDA approval. They could not fathom a pharmacist running their own pharmacy for only D.C. knows how to do that. They fear stimulants so intrinsically that they call on their paramilitary troopers to invade homes and destroy lives of those who consent to those same uppers. Never and nowhere is it more in your face apparent that conservatives are not Republicans than it is with their absolute groveling to the use of force and control over the ability of a free man to self medicate. No, the risk of addiction is so great a cage is the only place for that person they say, where, they will incidentally develop that same addiction not to mention cost the public treasure thousands in wasted sums, but a conservative is only a fiscal right winger when he fights entitlement spending, nothing more, nothing less.
So much now do Conservatives worship force and the uniform, and so much do they cower in fear of abstract threats, that openly they support the concept of forced vaccinations. They believe that so idiotic are individuals, that they need to hold a gun to their head against all consent, informed or not, and drive the uncompetetive, monopolistic for profit product into your body no matter what. Conservatives quickly and without thought would remove the due process of informed consent and turn that same authority to the same entity that murdered almost 300 million of its own people in the 20th century alone, central governments.
Conservatives seem to love war and they love to spend huge sums of treasure on war even if the war has nothing to do with defense or even moral right, has no strategic value, and greatly perpetuates the problem it was supposed to solve; yes, they love these wars. They love the soldier and think honoring that soldier is sending them to a far off chaotic land just to be wounded in non-conventional attacks. And if anyone dare speak against sending professional soldiers to get wounded, the conservative will be the first to use a full spectrum of pejoratives and insults to quiet the protest no matter how soft spoken. Lets honor our soldiers by bringing them home, keeping them close, educating them, allowing them to be medicated, by truly honoring them.
Conservatives hate to hear about indiscretions committed in their name and hate the messenger and never attack the sinner. They would not hear that they were lied to about war. They would not hear that we were torturing non-guilty detainees including woman and children. They would not hear we were using drones for targeted assassinations. They would not and will not hear about dragnet surveillance methods and invasive intelligence gathering. They will not discuss the activities of intelligence operatives no matter how damning the crime and evidence. They would rather use paramilitary to invade homes than stop their own agents from importing the drugs in the first place. They will not even hear about using due process for those detained and kept from their families. They will not hear about collateral damage and in many cases the targeted killing of innocents. No, conservatives will not even peak into this abyss, and deny its existence, fall in line with the phrase “national security” and move onto more important things like the weather and sports.
Conservative hear about the targeted killings of non “liberal” media personalities and shirk, for their great nation would not misuse its completely dark operations to quiet outspoken and well informed opposition. A conservative’s greatest fear in life is to be called a conspiracy theorist. This is the greatest and most fearful of all labels and insults. All is well in the Republic they say. No, a Republican understands that they are the government and hears all reports coming from the abyss.
Conservatives think that they can somehow uphold the second amendment, but not uphold the other amendments and clauses. They read about the clause that the federal government only has the power to produce gold and silver currency and laugh that the founders were outdated and that fiat currency controlled by a private bank owned by foreign nationals is great. Don’t trouble a conservative with one of the most important parts of states passive role in the economy; they want to worry about a five million dollar cut to a 500 billion dollar defense budget. Want to infuriate a liberal, pretend to go after abortion funding, want to rally a conservative, speak of insignificant cuts to massive military spending.
Conservatives claim to believe in small taxes yet are horrified at the thought, at the mere mention that the constitution was against direct taxation. What would the nation do without progressive income taxes. No, a conservative does not think we should go back to a Republican form of taxation, no they simply want to simplify the current progressive system since that is what conservatives do, they conserve the status quo.
Conservatives think that we should have to get permission from the federal government in order to get a job. (e-Verify) They also think that the state should have the resources and level of force to deploy men and resources across thousands of miles of territory without removing the incentives for those coming. They think that they can stop an immigrant from entering the nation when a prison cannot stop contraband from passing its walls. They hear the CIA is importing the cocaine and they don’t even blink but a coyote brining humans in will enrage and enflame. Force, control and treasure is there answer, not reform and freedom!
Conservatives think that conscription is honorable, even for an elective war. This shows the conservatives character. Not only do they elect for war, they force their children to fight the non-essential war. And spare the soul who points out the war is elective.
Conservatives think that properties belong to the state and that the state should tax those properties at the barrel of a gun to establish schools and force all the children to attend those same schools. Public education will turn even the most tame conservative into a raging lunatic capable of firebombing the opposition. At the barrel of a gun, all will receive a one size fits all education established by, oh wait, the federal government, well cool as long as it is not the UN, oh wait, it is the UN, ok cool as long as it . . . whatever, go teachers! Public education is anti-republicanism and is the root of all that is destroying the country or in other words, was the original cancer.
Rise Up Conservatives, Have Courage
This list can go on and on but the bottom line is that a conservative believes that holding a barrel of a gun to your head to keep you safe and secure and well educated is moral. This morality is anti-freedom, anti-liberty, and therefore, anti-republican.
If you are a conservative reading this, do not get mad, but instead, look in the mirror, confront your fear, look that fear straight in the eye and stand up, stand up for truth, freedom, liberty and republicanism. Activate for the right and stop fighting to conserve but instead, fight to reform and restore, to rebuild our great nation on the foundation of law and rights! It is not too late, I believe in you!
