First, let’s start with a basic review of Former New York Mayors basic politics.
He not only believes that late term and partial birth abortion should be legal, he believes they should be tax payer funded.
He not only believes that illegal immigration is not a crime, he believes full immunity and amnesty should be granted to all who have come here with no talk of preventing further illegal immigration.
He believes that the war on terror in Iraq happened to provide security and stability to the region and that under those objectives, which happen to be exactly in line with Hilary Clinton’s comments on the war, it was a just war.
He not only believes in gun control and universal gun registration, he believes “that owning a handgun should be like driving an automobile and therefore a person wanting to possess a handgun should pass a written test, should be able to pass a physical test and ability to handle a handgun, and should be able to demonstrate good moral character and a reason to have a gun and that this should be a law passed by congress uniformly for all the states to implement.”
Lets not forget that he most definitely believes in man made global warming!
With that introduction to New York City’s former Mayor, let’s do a quick analysis of some of the points that were made in the speech.
The speech starts off aggressively and with emotion and passion bringing up the incredibly few acts of Islamic terrorism committed in almost the last 14 years since 9/11 to cite the President and his well-known refusal to even utter the words Islamic Terrorism or even other buzzwords such as Radical Muslim or Jihad. He says that all of these former events have this in common:
“They have in common a movement the President of the United States will not recognize.”
Assuming that this is a well-researched point made by the Mayor, and that in six years Obama has not said those buzzword’s outlined, what then, is the term “terrorist” being used for in Washington and by the Presidents Party? What the Mayor fell short of saying is that the word has actively been redefined to be used towards patriots.
Following the incident in Nevada where a many generation Mormon Rancher was being unduly evicted from his property and was given a national platform to state his grievance and stand for his property rights, then Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid publicly stated, several times, that the actions of this rugged and patriotic rancher were literally “domestic terrorism.”
Immediately following the bombs going off in Boston during the marathon Wolf Blitzer and Chris Matthews stated also repeatedly that this was right wing domestic terrorism. This same media or press did not resist blaming the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords on domestic terrorists, a fact that proved to be opposite.
Senators and media using the new definition is one thing, but taking this redefinition of terrorism even further, the Department of Homeland Security under President Obama issued a now infamous memo declaring returning vets, Ron Paul supporters, etc. to be high risk for being terrorists; literally targeting those “bitter clingers” spoken of in the pre-election candid donors meeting. Finally, just this week, CNN reported that DHS just again issued a warning that right wing domestic terrorists are a greater risk than ISIS.
This should have been the point made by the mayor, not the lack of the use of the word terrorist, but how and who the term was actually used against or for!
As unpopular as this next point is, it is still the truth, and it needs to be made.
It is hard to hear the Mayor use these points to describe why we should actively fight in the Middle East to this day:
“They have been murdered, they have been slaughtered, they have been raped, they have been tortured, they have been beheaded, they have been burned by a movement that the President of the United States will not recognize.”
Minus the burning and beheading, this statement is troubling as it reflects our own country’s conduct in the decade long, undeclared and indefinite wars. It categorically has come out in the Senate Intelligence Committee reports that the United States of America, its armed forces and its State Department spies, have actively raped and tortured those in the Middle East in what amounts to little more than hellish pits in the ground. It is also reported that more often than not, it was the innocent or un-convicted who were subjected to this atrocious treatment yielding no useful data. The insane part is that it is members of Giuliani’s own party who defended and promoted the use of “enhanced interrogation” or torture. Beyond torture is the collateral damage or in other words the slaughter of roughly 200,000 innocent civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan since 9/11 and that these numbers may or may not include the roughly 2,500 civilian deaths from targeted drone strikes.
With this point made, hypocrisy does not nullify the actual murder, slaughter, torture, rape, beheading, and burning of innocents as those are some of the most abominable acts or deeds done on this planet! Just want to reinforce that no free Republic can continue on engaging in those same reprehensible actions without quickly devolving into a more savage state of being.
“I agree it’s diverse. I agree it has many forms. Al Qaeda, ISIS, Al Qaeda in Yemen, self-generated Jihadists like the Boston Marathon killers.”
Let’s just clear this up. Al Qaeda is now known as ISIS; this has been explained many times but most clearly in President Obama’s SOTU address. Al Qaeda having its name changed to ISIS seemed like an overnight name change but is more likely a strategic development that correlated strongly with the nation’s refusal to support “Al Qaeda” a second time in overthrowing Assad in Syria. Of course the first time was when we allied with Al Qaeda to overthrow Libya’s dictator Gadhafi. What resulted from that illegal and unconstitutional military action was the turning of a relatively descent third world nation into a failed and hyper-dangerous state.
Also, the invoking of the Boston Marathon might be premature as by most accounts and relatively quick research reveals the bombers were most likely not simply self-generated Jihadists and that an entire paper or documentary could be done on them and their clumsy descent into being unwitting patsy’s.
“And it’s united by one other thing, money and support from the regime of Iran.”
A major curve ball in this speech talking about extremism and ISIS to jumping into Iran. The two are not connected in this speech other than shallow rhetoric about how Iran has killed more Americans than any other state. This said without any other proof or evidence other than brief references to an incident 21 years ago and an incident 35 years ago that do not relate to the situation today but pull at the emotional heartstrings of those in attendance or watching the speech remembering the hostages being released.
On top of this point, and as will be discussed further, accusing Iran of supporting and funding radical islam is absolutely audacious! It is admitted and openly discussed that the west is the number one supporter or funder of this radical movement. It is Iran’s number one allies, Syria and Russia who are fighting ISIS most aggressively and it is safe to connect that by extension, it is not in Iran’s interest to support and fund the same enemy of their allies!
“Iran has 300 years of natural gas and oil reserves and they haven’t started fracking or hydraulic drilling yet. They may have 1000 years of reserves. I’m an expert on energy because that’s what my law firm does.”
Cartels cannot nor do they work, or work efficiently, without force or violence. This is because without the threat of force or violence, there is a huge incentive to cheat which means that in non-punishable instances, it is irrational not to cheat. Oil prices were low when the secular dictator Saddam Hussein was in power most likely because he was cheating; he was producing more than his quota of oil dictated to him from OPEC, (an international cartel) and by cheating was making more profit from the oil than not cheating. Interestingly enough, and without stating anything other than correlation, he was overthrown in the wake of a terrorist attack that he had absolutely nothing to do with and oil prices skyrocketed afterwords.
Now, in this speech, Iran is being demonized as a terror state without any evidence but quickly the discussion is turned to its massive oil and energy reserves. It is not that big of a stretch to say that this is the absolute heart and soul of this speech; that Iran is dangerous to the International Oil Cartel because it has so much oil it could easily cheat and again upset the control and/or supply that OPEC has control over.
It is an absolute economic principle that free trade benefits everyone and that prolonged war greatly hurts any nation involved as a whole. The worst policy that could be espoused would be to not seek after Iran increasing its role in the world oil and gas market and instead seek a new undeclared, multi-trillion dollar indefinite war and occupation of the country in the name of stability and security while increasing the price of gas and oil and hurting the worlds overall prosperity.
“These people in Iran, the Ayatollah and the mullahs, have already told us they are insane. They have already described to us in words and deeds the actions of insane people. I didn’t say irrational, I said insane. I believe the Ayatollah is truly insane. He lives in a different world than the real world in which we live, which is probably the best definition of insanity you can have.”
This part of the speech is highly ironic as it actually backs up a policy opposite of the one the Mayor is trying to espouse. It is well known and declassified that both the British MI6 and the American CIA played a key role in overthrowing the Shah and installing the exact people not only being called the enemy, but being defined as absolutely insane, unpredictable and incredibly dangerous. This cannot be stressed enough as a central point to this article, that if western nations had not meddled in the middle east, especially in Iran, most likely major calls for war and occupation and sanctions and fear and intervention would not be happening today, up to 60 years after the events and policies. There is no telling what future evils will arise out of the horror and chaos of post Saddam Iraq and post Gadhafi Libya in the next decades to come.
“We know your senators, particularly Senator McCain understands this as well or better than I do.”
When speaking of past wars, we often do not discuss the money involved. Who funded the Nazi’s? Who gave them the necessary resources that allowed their rise to power? Who funded the Bolsheviks? Who funded Mao? Who funded and organized Al Qaeda? Who armed, funded and organized ISIS? The very enemy we are currently being driven into a state of fear and calling for pre-emptive war.
The USA is arming ISIS. According to Ron Paul, the United States shipped 600 tons of weapons to Syria in 2013 alone. It is estimated that as high as 95% of those weapons ended up in the hands of ISIS formerly known as Al Qaeda. In a Senate hearing, General Dempsey courageously admitted on record to Senator Lindsey Graham that our allies in the region, who we assume is Saudi Arabia, is funding ISIS. Even more horrendous is that the very Senator McCain being promoted in the Mayor’s speech personally flew to Syria to meet with the “Syrian Rebels” and later bragged in what may have been a Freudian slip that he met personally with ISIS.
Yet, it is Senator’s McCain and Graham who are the most vocal advocates of another boots on the ground war against who we could consider logically as our ally, (yet enemy?) and who they have had the most to do in propping up, funding, organizing and arming! This is like the legendary stories of a hot shot not having work so they start a forest fire greatly increasing their pay or a bomb squad losing funding so they plant a bomb, call it in, diffuse their own bomb and take credit as heroes!
“The President of the United States should not be allowed to reach an agreement with Iran without presenting it to the United States Congress. This is not, this is not a dictatorship. This is not a country run by one man. This is not a country run by one branch of the government. The Congress of the United States speaks for the people of the United States. This agreement is too important to be imposed on us the way President Obama has ignored the laws in so many other ways, and gotten away with it because he has a press who defends him no matter what he does.“
The Mayor makes an amazing point and then totally ruins it at the end. The Constitution is what makes us free. Man being made equal under the law, not man suppressing man making the law at will. He invokes the constitution, almost downplays or attacks the evils of a “princedom” and then ruins it by blaming the press. This is very arguably not the press’ active doing. This is absolutely the failure of Congress and the Supreme Courts not to mention “we the people” and if it is not projected as such, this major iniquity will go un-corrected and un-punished. This would have been an amazing moment to call for impeachment for high crimes against the Constitution especially in the case of “executive immigration” but unfortunately, the Mayor is a huge advocate of illegal immigration so the only non-common issue he has against the left wing of progressivism is the press; so it is the presses fault it is.
“And here’s their platform, here’s their charter, here’s their constitution.”
At this point in the speech, everything sounds great. An Iranian people freed with a constitution similar to ours with great leaders and happily being part of the world community. Yet, is this even being said? We, the USA, conquered and occupied Iraq for years and spent un-countable dollars and yet there is no real freedom or constitution there. In fact, in almost every case in the last 60 years, our country has teamed up with the crazies and radicals and have fought against true liberty and constitutional Republics. From Mao, to South and Central America to the Middle East and Northern Africa, the wrong direction is almost without exception taken. Even more ironic is that the Mayor is painting a picture of a non-religious government when the only secular governments in the region are the ones that have been removed by our own armed forces and money.
Lets instead talk of peace with them, of trade and friendship and flooding their streets with western products or goods! Yet it is war and liberty through destruction and occupation, an oxymoron the French Revolution discovered is impossible, that is so passionately promoted and given a figurative amen from the listeners!
“This president is moving us in a much worse and really frightening direction. And Congress must stop it!”
And finally, if these words were not qualified after they were spoken, and for our own sanity lets pretend they weren’t, then they would be and are the true rhetoric of an American patriot!
